I am Jewish and kashrut/Sabbath observant. Married, mother of four, and blissful grandma of two little rascals. I live in an apartment in hot, humid central Israel, with my husband and youngest child.
An avid home cook, baker, and wine maker, I study historical cookbooks for fun and have an extensive cookbook library. Foraging for edible and medicinal weeds in season relaxes me and fills my pantry with home remedies.
My languages are English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hebrew. I've taught classes on using herbs in the home and led nature walks, but gave up gardening for apartment life and now sow and reap in window boxes.
When I'm writing, there has to be silence, but I like music when cooking or working with wine: jazz, old blues, Bossa Nova, Piazzolla, classical music, or just the radio tuned in to a local FM station.
I read a lot - and live in my head a lot, but like to gather family and friends for good eating and conversation very often.
